Released on March 3, 2025, LabVantage 8.9 is the latest major upgrade to the LabVantage LIMS platform, designed to enhance laboratory efficiency, ensure stronger compliance, and simplify workflows through smart automation and usability improvements.

Performance & Efficiency

LabVantage 8.9 introduces database partitioning, significantly improving performance by organizing large data sets into smaller, more manageable segments. This results in faster processing and better handling of historical or archived data.

The new advanced audit trail filtering makes it easier to comply with regulatory standards. Users can now filter logs by sample, user, activity type, and other key parameters, helping laboratories quickly find and verify specific transactions.

Usability & Automation

A new Scan-Find-&-Select toolbar has been added, allowing users to scan sample IDs or barcodes directly into data grids. This minimizes manual entry and reduces errors, streamlining daily workflows.

The redesigned user interface, dubbed “Stellar,” offers greater flexibility and personalization. Users can configure screen layouts, switch display modes, and reduce on-screen clutter to suit their specific preferences and tasks.

The release also includes automation enhancements for the Configuration Management Tool (CMT), allowing configuration builds to be automatically imported from desktop to server with minimal IT intervention.

Embedded AI & Voice Control

LabVantage 8.9 integrates AI-powered voice functionality via “Open Talk with Lottie.” This new feature enables hands-free interaction with the system, allowing users to retrieve information or generate reports using simple voice commands.

ELN/LES & Stability Enhancements

In the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), new features include better document control with options like start-on-new-page formatting, selective publishing, image substitution, and dynamic audit trails. A section recovery option also helps safeguard critical documentation.

Lab Execution System (LES) updates now allow for the creation of multiple consumable lots in a single worksheet, improving material tracking and batch planning.

The Stability module has been upgraded with a drag-and-drop study plan builder, protocol versioning, and multi-plan maintenance. Users also benefit from real-time inventory visibility and new summary reporting features that simplify planning and analysis.
